An Introduction to the One Computer Classroom

 

Activity 1 - Introduction and Objectives
Look over the module introduction and objectives and rubric for this module.

Activity 2 - Introduce Yourself to Our Online Community
To support you in your online learning experience, we will be discussing issues and collaborating with each other.  Post to the information that will help us understand  your background, interests, and goals.  Ideas to include could be:
-Your school and position
-Any current use of technology in your subject area
-What you hope to accomplish with the computer in your classroom next year (personal and/or student goals).
-Questions you may have about using the computer in your classroom.

Activity 3 - Why Do I Need a Computer in My Room?
1.  Read two articles:
**Choose one article on the discussion of Computers in the Lab or Classroom.  
**Choose one article on Classroom Management.
2.  Post to the 3 advantages of having the computer in your classroom.  Also, tell 3 ways you can manage your classroom to avoid some potential problems.  List the URL in your posting.

Activity 4 - Planning for Technology Integration
1.  Print out the Technology Integration Plan.
2.  You will use this sheet to help you plan for Technology Integration into your One Computer Classroom.  Add to it as you find new ways to incorporate the computer into your daily classroom life.
3.  Choose an article on the Categories of Computer Use.  Add to your Technology Integration Plan any ideas that you find useful.  This will be an ongoing process.
4.  Share 2 of these ideas with a colleague in your department who is not in this class.  Post to the listserv the ideas you shared and their reaction.
