Internet I: An Introduction to the Internet for Teaching
An Introduction to the Internet for Teaching Participants will learn the basics of the World Wide Web. They will learn how to navigate the Internet using a browser. Learn how to perform searches, using both simple and advanced methods, and discover the advantages and limitations of search engines. Other topics will include the anatomy of a web address (URL), detecting plagiarism, and citing Internet sources.
Workshop Objectives:
1. Discuss the origin of the Internet
2. Define common Internet terms
3. Navigate the Internet using a browser.
4. Understand what a primary source document is
5. Explore and utilize popular search engines
6. Identify inappropriate web sites - website evaluation.
7. Discover resources of age appropriate web sites
8. Discuss how a particular web site can be integrated into their curriculum
