Note:  As sites are frequently changing, some that were previously listed as Free are now charging a fee.  Instead of removing them from this site, I have put them in a separate section at the end of each category for those who would like to check out that resource.


Student Communication

 

  • SchoolNotes - http://www.schoolnotes.com/ SchoolNotes.com complements school websites by allowing teachers to post school information on the WWW without worrying about HTML or FTP.

     

  • ePALS - http://www.epals.com...Email for students. A good site for controlled e-mail with two great features- profanity filter and the opportunity to do an e-mail exchange with other classrooms by criteria you select.

Fee Based

  • eBoard - http://www2.eboard.com/eboard/servlet/IndexLoginServlet Your own 'Virtual Corkboard' where you can post messages, photos and links online in seconds. With an eBoard you can quickly and easily make information accessible to others on your own private place online. eBoard is perfect for anyone who would like to put information online but doesn't have the need for a web site.  
    $29 a year.

Teacher Web Sites

  • TeacherWeb - http://www.teacherweb.com/ With TeacherWeb, you simply type in new homework assignments & special announcements while viewing your website. Your updates will be instantly available to your students using any Internet access! Security is built-in -- only you will be able to make updates to your website, using your own password. You can use TeacherWeb to point students to Internet information sources for further study. If you choose, your students can also email you directly from your TeacherWeb.

  • Think.com - http://www.think.com ...Think.com is a free, web based environment for primary and secondary students and teachers.  Students are given the tools and space to create and share their work online.  Technology and the Internet facilitate global communication and collaboration within a learning community.

  • Filamentality - http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/fil/ Filamentality is a fill-in-the-blank interactive Web site that guides you through picking a topic, searching the Web, gathering good Internet sites, and turning Web resources into learning activities. Templates to create Hotlists, Treasure Hunts, WebQuests, Scrapbooks and Subject Samplers.

     

  • TrackStar - http://trackstar.scrtec.org/ TrackStar is an on-line interface that helps instructors organize and annotate Web sites (URLs) into lessons. The list of resources acts like a table of contents and remains visible throughout the lesson allowing the user/student to easily browse through the lesson and stay on track.
