|Through the Annenberg Breakthrough Grant Plan (Winter 2000-2001), teachers from Washington Irving and Dett Schools in Chicago are combining forces to improve the teaching of Social Science and Literature. This will be done by aligning one social science topic with literature circle lessons.
1. choose a social science topic from their curriculum
2. design the unit
3. select literature that relates to the unit
4. execute instruction
5. design a form of alternative assessment
6. collect student work
7. make a team presentation of their results to other teams in the network
The purpose of this web site is to guide teachers in using Internet resources to accomplish some of these goals.
